 Tiny - yes, but oh so perfect August 1, 2010

Our baby was delivered a LOT earlier than we expected. At first we were told our little one would be over 8 lbs and since we ordered these way ahead of time, I was worried that they wouldn't fit. However, our baby boy was delivered early and he was tiny - exactly 6 lbs. These side snap shirts were a total must the first week at home. Easy to get on and off, no pulling over the head, and they fit him perfectly.
Sure, I can see how these would be considered tiny for normal sized babies, but for our slightly premature baby, these fit perfectly!

These are so much better than over-the-head shirts whether baby is fussy or sleeping, you don't want to get something over their head when you don't have to. These run a little small but still fit fine. If you have a big baby, these won't do. One shirt is starting to tear where buttons are attached due to stretching/pulling of snapping on and off.

The Newborn-size shirts run really small! Only 2/3 the size of other Gerber products in the same size. Maybe even smaller, if it shrinks after washing. Probably only suitable for tiny preemies.

I agree with the reviewers here who say this is a MUST HAVE that no one told me about. My son was fussy and had a large head, so pulling things over his head was very difficult. Also, of course, you want to avoid pushing and pulling a newborn's head since they are still soft. These shirts are perfect for this. I had received at least 20 onesies as gifts and didn't use most of them; instead I used these ALL the time until he was at least 4 months old. In addition, he was born in the summer, and this would keep him relatively cool rather than a full body thing. However, the material is soft but a bit flimsy, so in the winter, you may need a thicker cotton. I agree also that you should buy a size bigger, as the 0-3 month size only lasts for a few weeks, esp. for big babies like mine (8 lbs. 5 oz at birth). Thanks!

My son was a slightly on the smaller size for the first couple of weeks. The usual onesies and such were a little too big from him. these were a good fit but after a couple of washes they became very tight. Could be he grew up a little too!!
